Enjoy the Sun

I woke this morning far earlier than anyone should on a Saturday. Once I made my way into the kitchen and began straightening up from last night's late dinner once again I noticed the east sun shining through the sliding glass door. I never can seem to rid it of the smudges and streaks no matter how hard I try. And as usual the sun highlighted all the imperfections. I felt the aggravation begin to rise as the perfectionist deep within me began to rear her ugly head. I've often said, "The light exposes all the darkness." (In my case smudges) And I've often thought about the symbolism in that for us spiritually. This morning a new thought popped into my head. "Your missing the beauty of the sun by gazing at the smudges." Hmm. A great reminder from the Lord, I'm sure. We do not have to gaze at our imperfection because He became our perfection. We simply can enjoy the Son. I grabbed my cup of tea and stepped outside to listen to birds and enjoy the fresh air. Ironically, once on the other side of that glass door, out in the sunshine, the window was pristine! Not one smudge showing! Like a crystal clear lake reflecting the sun. As a recovering perfectionist, I love it when God gently reminds me of his simple, yet amazing truth;that in Him we are made perfect. Have a great day today and enjoy the light.
